Now is a pivotal moment for mapping the future development of a feminist foreign policy agenda. 2020 is an extraordinary year for international commitments on gender equality: it marks the 25th anniversary of the Beijing Platform for Action, the 20th anniversary of the UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security and the 5th anniversary of Sustainable Development Goal Nr. 5 (Gender Equality).  Women and traditionally marginalized groups - such as LGBTQI people - have been historically underrepresented in government, policy-making and, subsequently, in foreign policy. This has led to foreign policies that traditionally neglect the interests of these groups. A feminist foreign policy (FFP) could provide an alternative to power politics and the behavior of domination prevalent in today’s global climate.

At this workshop participants will share their ideas and come up with concrete policy proposals about the implementation of feminist foreign policy that decision makers in various fields can utilize. Using the collaborative online platform Policy Kitchen, participants will engage in an interactive thought-provoking process. The workshop is a part of a larger effort by Open Think Tank Network - a network of grassroots European think tanks –  to collect policy ideas using crowdsourcing tools. The results of the workshop will be included in a policy paper that will be shared with relevant stakeholders at all levels.

If you cannot participate on April 21st, you can register for a similar workshop held by another OTTN think tank. More information about workshops dates can be found here

Good internet connection is necessary to participate in the workshop! Two online platforms will be used: Zoom.us and Policykitchen.com. All participants will need to create an account on Policykitchen.com.

The Discussion will be held in English.
